A few people have asked me about this, so I thought I would write a blog to explain.
Firstly I have to say I am no expert and I don’t know all the answers, this is purely my experience of these phenomena.
I have the ability to see energy and orbs. I first started seeing large orbs about 20 years ago, just here and there. Now it is pretty much a daily occurrence, although most of what I see is subtle and small spots of light or colour. Sometimes this energy is on a person or in their auric field and is related to strong memories, trauma or illness. Other times this energy is in the room and not directly attached to the aura of any person. This energy belongs to beings or entities, sometimes it may be a deceased relative or perhaps a guide in spirit form.
The photos I placed on my page were taken by my daughter, with my phone. Unfortunately the quality is not very good and they cannot be enlarged. I was very excited to get them, they represent hard evidence that in this area is often hard to find. It is proof to the disbelievers…Here! This is what I see! Do you believe me now?
You will understand this reaction when I share the story of how they were taken…. You see I have had a lifetime of not being believed. Even worse, I lost friends and was ridiculed to the point that I shut down completely. It is only in the past 5 years or so, that I have begun to open myself up, to experience the world of spirit that I tried so hard to ignore. I have also been slowly ‘coming out of the closet’ about what I see, experience and know to be true, about the world around us.
A few years ago, I told my sister in law and younger brother about what I see and who I am…. A medium primarily. My sister in law was quite OK with it all, but I could tell my brother was not at all comfortable and I could see it in his eyes…he didn’t really believe me. Well, that is OK, it isn’t my job to convert people and they will see and believe what they want and when they are ready. That is what I told myself anyway. It was really important to me, deep down, it was something I wanted, some family support…not something I had experienced a lot of in the past!
My sister in law was very supportive and came to me time and time again for advice and asking questions, but not my brother. Then one night my daughter and I went to their house for tea. My sister in law asked me to do a reading for her. I told her I saw a large blue orb of energy behind her. My daughter, who loves any excuse to take a photo, picked up my mobile phone and started to click away. She jumped up and down saying ‘I got it! I got a picture of the orb!’ and sure enough….there it was! Exactly as I had said…a blue orb. I described a mauve and blue colour near her elbow and sure enough, my daughter got that on the phone camera as well!
It was very exciting. Then my daughter took one of my brother and there were two orbs near his head. ‘Must be light from the candle.’ He said. I wanted to strangle him…I just said what I saw…there it is in the form of proof and you STILL want to find a logical way to disprove me! So we blew out the candles and my daughter took shot after shot of the orbs in different locations around the room. It was such fun and such a relief for me to finally have some proof! There it is! This is what I see.
Funny thing is, it has taken years for my brother to slowly come around…and that is OK. It really is OK, because I don’t need that external support any more. I am strong enough now to stand on my own and say…believe it or not….your choice. We have many examples of orbs caught on disk now, a few different colours and some that just show up on a photo.
So here is an example of one such photo…believe it or not, I know my own truth and that is enough. My hope is that others may see at least…possibilities.

Thanks for sharing your experience on this Karin. Great timing for me as I went through Soul Friend's Pictures last night. I left several comments there regarding my experience of orbs. I am actually going through some of my images at this moment examining them again.
I am new to them as well, I would say the last 2 years or so. Today they are everywhere but I thought that was normal…well not as odd as some people make of it…
I understand your peace you have needed to make about others believing your or not. I do appreciate validation when it does come in via images or not. “See…I am not crazy…!!!”

How do you know? Do you get information with them when you see them?
How is that for a loaded question or for being blunt? LOL…
Karin Maree, I don't see orbs, though I have photographed them. I sense energy patterns and thought forms.
Many are now awakening to such gifts; but there are still many who are asleep. You are one of the early ones in your environment. Once we know that we are earlier than others, perhaps our “work” is to gently show them, but not really to jostle them awake.
So when your brother seems to disbelieve you, perhaps you take it as his not supporting you, but he takes it as being told to accept something blindly, something he finds himself unable to do?
This can happen about any knowledge or knowing that people have before others around them have it. e.g. I had this experience of disbelief re qualitative research, that the usual numbers-crunching marketing managers found difficult to accept. Even those to whom I teach Reiki do not believe what they see. In fact, sometimes, even I feel doubt about many things.
But what I found was, in this and other matters, that doubt and disbelief are easily shed at the right time. They seem strongest just as they are ready to be shed; which is why they evoke such strong emotions in the doubter.
Please don't feel hurt by your brother's reaction. This is the process of acceptance, and like a hairpin bend up a mountain, can turn around any time.
Hi Denim, I think that digital photography has somehow made it easier to capture. I'm not really sure of the 'why that is so', but they are turning up a lot aren't they! There is always that element of 'Is there something wrong with my eyes? ' or 'am I really seeing this?' so for me, these photos were really special, they proved to ME that the colours were as I saw them and the energy was there. And boy that is a really good question… 'a pearler' you could say. 'How do you know? Do you get information with them when you see them?' Honest answer, I don't know for 100% certainty that these orbs are the energy of guides or relatives….but I did readings for bother my sister in law and brother and connected to beings that were around them. My brother had our uncle and grandfather come through strongly. My sister in law had a guide and her grandmother and grandfather.
So to answer the question as correctly as I can, yes I did pick up on spirit there at the time and I saw the orbs and got photos, but I am assuming the connection.
The health connection- I have had a few experiences to prove that one, just by asking when I see them appear ie 'Is your elbow sore or giving you trouble?' .So I have got confirmation on those sort of orbs or energy and can be a bit more definite with my response.
Meenakshi- thankyou for your comments. I have found this to be true and I have come to a place of peace knowing that it is not my job to convince anyone. In the past I was not strong enough to stand alone and his comments were hurtful, but I can laugh about it now……..just what does it take to convince some people! I am trying to just be open about it and then to allow people to come to it when they are ready, in their own time.
I myself have not always accepted things easily, I have needed proof and validation before I could believe.
Thank you ladies…thanks Karen for attempting the answer…I know it is hard to explain, I shouldn't have asked…I am still scratching my head and waking up perhaps…but really really slowly…babysteps…My initial hit was not requested and so rapid and so acute that I feel like I am still on a breather from just this one initial experience perhaps or I am simply procrasinating…LOL…interesting…always…meegwetch (thank you)
No not at all, it was a really good question……it helped me to clarify it in my head, to think about what is going on. I am still learning and putting it all together myself.
Lately I have seen the energy appear on screen when I read messages from people. My big problem is trusting my intuition when these things occur…. Getting in touch with the knowing, because ultimately the answers lie there.
It is a workout inside to calm it down enough to “listen”…for me…sometimes I run away and say…”just kidding, don't want to know, I am not listening, I am not listening” and run around in circles flapping my hands…LOL… it is quite the show I put on….you have been sooooo helpful….you have no idea!

I have taken the whole notion of 'confirmation' to a new level. I think that is why I have understood people like my brother and father, I am after all no different… I needed proof beyond a shadow of a doubt.
I have no experience of this! But my eyes are open, and so is my jaw! Meenakshi, I hear you so cleary! Denim… Karin, I am with you utterly. So may be your bother, Karin, ultimately, just like Meenaskshi said. In this and many other wondrous ways! Karin; Wow, you saw the orb first then got a photo of it?! I'm used to doing it the other way around. Check out these resources, they will be of interest to you because they're all about orbs. This first one is a site I subcribed to a newsletter for back in 2004 and the newsletters are often about orbs. The second one is about a lady who attended an orb conference in England this summer.

I used to see red and green colored orbs floating on the floor by the wall, traveling through the room of my apartment in the mid nineties. I didn't know what to think of it; were they illnesses travelling around? Should I be afraid of them? Were they spirits? Did spirits cause illness? I had heard that red orbs can cause fever!
And I knew a lady in 2002 who attended a workshop on orbs. The whole class took a field trip to a cemetary at night just to take photos and try to capture orbs. She certainly got photos of orbs! But nobody could say exactly what they were. Were they reflections from the flash? Spirits?

I haven't seen a red orb, it is about the only colour I haven't seen, so I can't comment about the fever theory. Green I have seen a few times as an orb and today in the form of a misty energy…lots of it all over the ground. It felt nice, like earth energy.
But I do believe that this energy is often spirit. I might blog about another experience just to give an example of that.

I'm so deeply grateful you've found the time to blog of these experiences. Look how it has brought people to reflect and deepen their understanding and perhaps simply share more. I am so thrilled you came here to Gaia to be part of this work and share your life and soul in this manner.
These stories remind me of one instance in particular as my wife and I were cuddling in the middle of the night. We each felt a palpable energy coming from the same area of our bedroom by the basement door. As we looked over in complete darkness an electric blue to Indigo orb maybe 3-4 inches in diameter came through from the door and darted diagonally across the room in an oddly “flighty” pattern and then landed on a touch lamp on her night stand that was previously turned off. The bulbs lit very briefly as it absorbed the energy then went dark. While I have seen orbs with the naked eye several times (but never on investigations) this was the only time there was electrical equipment nearby so I don't know if this would be a “normal” response. These have predominantly occurred far from “hot” electrical sources. We subsequently laid in bed for a few feeling watched.
Have you ever noticed this type of “grounding” of spiritual energy into the material world? The lamp was a gift from my grandmother that she previously owned and the incident occurred while she was still alive at the time if you're at all curious.

I haven't ever noticed the sort of 'grounding' you described.
You are right my question would have been …Is she in spirit? But I am fairly certain at least one of the orbs I have seen was a manifestation of some-one who was alive. I think if we are deeply connected to some-one, when we think of them, we project some of our energy there. Those able to see will either see an orb, energy or even a 'ghost like' body. Others less inclined to see may feel their presence in other ways.
That's my take on it anyway.
It's very interesting you would have considered this explanation that my grandmother might have been the spirit. She had not yet passed, however a child she once gave up for adoption had passed before the event and I recall that time in my life feeling connected to her (the aunt I never met). Actually there's more to the connection but personal and therefore awkward for a post here and more appropriate for a pm.
A friend handed me this book, told me I might enjoy it. “The Orb Project,” by Miceal Ledwith and Klaus Heinemann – the first a professor of systematic theology, the second an experimental physics scientist who worked in materials science research at NASA as well as the academic field (UCLA and Stanford).
Amaaaazing, is about as articulate as I can be!! (Aka knock-my-socks off, in Jeannie-speak.) What wondrous wondrous things are coming to light in this good and ever-expanding Universe. Yow!
