Re-incarnation

Posted on Oct 17th, 2008 by Karin Maree : Dragonfly Karin Maree
A coughing fit has me awake at 4.30, so I thought I would blog about what’s been on my mind….re-incarnation.
I had a fascination with weird things ever since I was a child and I read all sorts of subjects that were outside the beliefs of the religion I was raised in. I devoured books about witches, spontaneous human combustion and Kurlian photography. I was a weird kid.

A series of traumatic events left me in a bit of a mess in my late teens.I ran away from home and ended up living in the spare room of a man who became a great friend and mentor. To support myself I started doing some door to door sales. One day I knocked on the door of a tiny woman wearing a head scarf. She kindly asked me to come in, with a strong European accent. I stood on her doorstep gripped with fear. The poor woman must have thought I was mad! Then I just turned and ran and kept running. Some time later, the team leader eventually found me wondering the streets and put me in the van and took me home. I was unable to return to work and gripped with irrational fear. One day I sat for 3 hours, wrapped in a towel, on the floor of the bathroom, totally unable to move. I had gone to open the door and had a vision of a small woman wearing a head scarf, brandishing a carving knife on the other side.
This image of a ‘crazy’ little woman waving a knife wouldn’t leave me.
Fortunately the lovely man I shared house with was an ex-Scientologist and several of his friends were practicing Scientologists. They told me I was having a ‘restimulation’ based on a past life. I am eternally grateful to them for the work they did to help me through. I credit them with my life, because at that point I truly thought I was going insane and had become suicidal.
After a few sessions I discovered a memory of a past life where I was a young Russian peasant girl. My mother, a small, thin woman who wore a head scarf, had bravely fought off soldiers with a carving knife. She lost her life trying to save mine. They murdered her right in front of me, then I was raped and killed. It didn’t take very long to realize the series of events that led to my ‘restimulation’.
Since that first rather painful memory, I have had quite a lot of less dramatic experiences. I have a fondness for Egyptian artefacts and vague memories of a life there. Mostly, I have been amazed at the people I have met throughout my life that ‘I just know’ fondly, feeling deep friendship with a total stranger. It is encounters like that that make me think …. ‘Have I met them before?’
So there you have it…..I believe in re-incarnation.
(I have blogged about it before, but not quite as much detail)
Oh and don’t believe all the hype and rubbish on the TV.
I am very supportive of my dear Scientology friends and eternally grateful…I wouldn’t be here without them!

How tramautic, to have that flashback and not know where it came from. The Universe/God put you in the care of the people you needed to be with just then! That's why I believe in both God and reincarnation. Our souls just go too deep to maintain the belief that we only get one body for our soul.

It was a very traumatic time in my life….and I agree, I was where I could be helped. If that sort of thing had happened at home….I really would have been 'locked up'.
I thought I would share this because of a discussion between Kes and Denim on one of the POL threads.  But it was a bit too long a story to post there.
On Oprah a while ago, there was a psychologist who does past life regressions to resolve irrational phobias. There were some really interesting ones, like dolls and corners. Most people seemed to be 'cured' after a few sessions.

'So what are you afraid of?'
Little old ladies wearing head scarves……EEEEEK!

Hi Karen!
It's been a little while.  I love this blog… I have some past life stuff too!  A good friend on gaia once helped me remember….

I wanted to share this song, because I always feel like it captures egypt of old so perfectly.  I have no logical reason why… : )
I think it can actually be really important to remember past lives.  Sometimes, we can still need closure on things that happened so very long ago… I know I did.  Remembering set me free.

Hello Karin,

I was amazed by your experience… but more so because you have had the gift, the opportunity to learn about a past life that was somehow still connected, lingering to your current life. That in itself is amazing, and a blessing. It is an opportunity to grow and learn from that past life experience. I also truly believe in re-incarnation. Our spirit, our soul is made up of pure energy, and energy NEVER dies. I personally feel like it is narrow to think that the pureset essence of our soul will only experience ONE life. I feel in my heart that we have much to learn, and it takes more than one “phyiscal” lifetime to learn, to progress, to “graduate” to the highest level… therefore we re-incarnate and experience a new life. It makes perfect sense to think that a past life or memories of past lives will pour into the new re-incarnated life. To get to know and heal yourself from the residue of the past life that poured into this one is such an amazing blessing. It really is… and for that I am happy for you. Not a lot of people understand why they feel or sense something… They might have no idea that a past life is haunting them… but you found out what happened to you. I often contemplate and wonder what kind of lives I lived before… I feel some things, but can’t be too sure. Past life regression is very interesting to me.

Thank you for sharing/expressing your experience,
Sonja
